What We Do
Illusion Alloys provides same day professional alloy wheel refurbishment including Kerb rash, scuffs, scrapes, dents, recolouring, customisation and diamond cut SMART repairs in Croydon and the surroundings areas.
All repairs are carried out on the same day at a location convenient to you saving you time and money compared to leaving your vehicle in a body shop. All works are also fully insured giving you peace of mind your car is in safe hands as well as offering a 12 month warranty to all undamaged wheels.
The Process
Your wheels are removed and all works are carried out in our custom made vans, containing bead breakers, compressors, generators, spray booths and heat lamps.
Firstly the wheel is sanded to remove any damage, then any low areas are layered into the rest of the wheel so no uneven areas are visible.
The whole wheel is then rubbed down and cleaned to remove and loose materials and provide a key to help adhere primers and paints to the wheel.
Depending on the particular job the wheel will then be primed, painted or polished to match its original finish before being lacquered and left to set under heat lamps until dry.
The wheel is then placed back on the car and hand torqued to its factory setting for safety.

and surrounding areas
-
Why do you take the wheels off?Unlike a number of repairers the emphasis is on a full high quality finish, this means removing the alloy from the car so it can be worked on properly at body height and nothing is missed. This also avoids overspray on brake callipers, discs and bodywork.
-
It’s only a small area of damage, do you need to do the whole wheel? It’s quite common place for works to be carried out on damaged areas only, this can often seem cheap and look great at the time but after a few months of washing this often leads to lacquer peeling.
-
How long does it take? It’s recommended to allow 60-90 mins per alloy depending on the type of job, quite often though it can be a little quicker.
-
When can I drive the car?Straight away! The wheels will only be returned to the car once they’re dry and protected.
-
When can I wash them?Slow down! Although they’re dry, the lacquer will be soft for a while depending on weather conditions, the norm is to wash them by hand after 3 days or pressure wash after 7 days. Ideally have the car washed before hand to get the most from your refurbed alloys.
